Lviv – On 5 June 2007 in western Ukrainian Lviv, a session of the Permanent Synod of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC) was held. The synod discussed preparations for the Patriarchal Synod of Bishops of the UGCC, which is to take place in Philadelphia (USA) on 5 October 2007. The site of the future synod was selected on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the first appointment of a UGCC bishop, Soter Ortynski, for pastoral work outside Ukraine, with his see in Philadelphia.
Also, the members of the permanent synod studied and analyzed the preparations for the 4th Session of the Patriarchal Sobor (Assembly) on Youth Matters, scheduled for 14-17 August 2007 in Kyiv.
