Vatican – Pope Benedict XVI has appointed Bishop Irynei Bilyk of Buchach of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC) a canon of the Papal Basilica of Saint Mary Major. Also, following the Pope’s order, Fr. Dmytro Hryhorak, superior of the Basilian monastery and pastor of the local parish in northwestern Ukrainian Lutsk, was appointed apostolic administrator (sede vacante ad nutum Sanctae Sedis). ugcc.org.ua posted the news on 28 July 2007.
