Ecclesia Dei Leader to Celebrate Tridentine Mass

LORETO, Italy, SEPT. 13, 2007 (Zenit.org).- The president of the Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei will celebrate a pontifical high Mass as Benedict XVI's letter "Summorum Pontificum" takes effect.

Cardinal Darío Castrillón Hoyos will join with Archbishop Gianni Danzi of Loreto in celebrating the Mass in the Basilica of the Holy House on Friday, the feast of the Exaltation of the Cross, at 6 p.m.

Music for the liturgy will be provided by the choir of the Basilica of the Holy House, directed by Father Giuliano Viabile, and the Rossini Chamber Choir from Pesaro, directed by Maestro Simone Baiocchi, author of the arrangement of the "Te Deum," which will be sung.

More than 20 seminarians from the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest will serve at the Mass.

The diplomatic corps of the Holy See and of the Pontifical Council for Culture will have representatives in attendance.

The Russian ambassador to the Holy See, Nikolay Sadchikov, and Armando Ginesi, honorary consul of the Russian Federation, will also attend.
