With the blessing of the Most Rev. Peter (Stasiuk), Eparch of Ukrainian Catholics in Australia, New Zealand and Oceania, a week before the opening of World Youth Day a varied spiritual program is prepared for Ukrainian pilgrims. It includes the celebration of Divine Liturgies and Akathists [prayer services] to blesseds of the Ukrainian Church, catechism, round tables, meetings with Ukrainian bishops and acquaintance with the life of the Ukrainian community in Australia. In addition, a cultural program and participation in a youth festival are planned for young Ukrainians.

Father Edward Ivanko from Canada will present two spiritual musical performances, one of which is dedicated to the anniversary of the Holodomor [forced famine of 1932-3]. From Thursday the Ukrainian youth will take part in World Youth Day.

More than 225,000 young people are expected from 170 countries of the world.
