VATICAN CITY, OCT. 1, 2007 (Zenit.org).- Benedict XVI appointed Father Guido Marini, of the Archdiocese of Genoa, as master of papal liturgical ceremonies.
Father Marini shares a surname with the man he succeeds Archbishop Piero Marini, who was appointed president of the Pontifical Committee for International Eucharistic Congresses. The Vatican press office announced the appointment today.
Father Marini was born in Genoa in 1965 and ordained a priest in 1989.
From 1988 to 2003 he was the secretary of the archbishops of Genoa.
He was the master of liturgical celebrations for Cardinals Dionigi Tettamanzi and Tarcisio Bertone, as well as for Archbishop Angelo Bagnasco, working especially on the publication of the liturgical books used in various ceremonies.
