📖 Part 1 – What Is the Bible?
The Word of God in the life of the Church
The Bible is the sacred Scripture of the Church. Though composed of many books written by different authors across many centuries, it is, at its heart, one book that tells one story — the story of God’s love for humanity and His unfolding plan for our salvation.
The Bible begins with creation, tells of the calling and trials of God’s people, announces the coming of the Messiah, and proclaims His death and resurrection. It concludes with the promise of renewal and eternal life which You can choose to embrace.
✝️ Christ, the Living Word
The Bible is not merely a text about God — it is the living Word of God. It speaks with divine authority, not because of human eloquence, but because it is inspired by the Holy Spirit. As the Church teaches, through all the words of Scripture, God speaks one single Word — His Son.
Christianity is not a religion of the book, but of the Word made flesh. The Bible is holy because it bears witness to Jesus Christ, who is Himself the fullness of God’s revelation.
“All Sacred Scripture is but one book, and that one book is Christ.”
– Hugh of St. Victor
🕯️ Scripture in the Life of the Church
The Church has always venerated the Scriptures as she venerates the Body of the Lord. The Gospels are carried in procession during the Divine Liturgy. Psalms are chanted in every hour of prayer. The words of Scripture fill the hymns, feasts, and seasons of the Church year.
Scripture is not something distant or external. It is proclaimed, prayed, and lived. It shapes the conscience, the imagination, and the heart of every Christian who hears it with faith.
To read the Bible is to listen to the voice of God. To pray with it is to enter into communion with Him. And to live by it is to walk the path of the saints.
